Aline came to Maribor just before the coronavirus lockdown but says she wasn’t bored. In addition to studying, she went for daily runs in the park, where she practiced speaking Slovenian by talking to senior citizens. She says she wants to stay in Slovenia a bit longer and is now looking for an internship here. She chose to play the song Morena by Brazilian musicians Vitor Kley and Bruno Martini.

According to her, the most widespread misconception is that in Brazil, the spoken language is Spanish. In reality, they speak portugues brasileiro, a set of dialects of the Portuguese language used mostly in Brazil. She came to Maribor to study, because it was the only exhange she was able to go on, but says she doesn't regret it, as she finds Maribor cute. Dobrodošli v oddaji Second Hand. V današnji oddaji se bomo poklonili vplivnemu velikanu brazilske bossa nove, Sergiu Mendesu, ki je umrl pred kratkim, star 83 let. Sergio Mendes, brazilski pevec, skladatelj, vodja skupine in klaviaturist, je postal mednarodna senzacija, potem ko se je v šestdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja preselil v Združene države Amerike, in eden glavnih crossover umetnikov svojega časa, z mednarodnimi uspešnicami kota sta »Mas Que Nada« in »The Look of Love". Posnel je več kot 35 albumov in za sabo pustil neverjetno glasbeno zapuščino več kot šestih desetletij edinstvenega zvoka, ki ga je prva predstavila njegova skupina Brasil ’66. Njegove pesmi so semplali in prirejali številni, ena njegovih najbolj semplanih pesmi pa je Magalenha, ki jo je izdal precej pozno v svoji karieri, leta 1992. Izdal je svoj prvenec Dance Moderno, ko je gibanje bossa nova pridobilo moment leta 1961. Turneje po Severni Ameriki in Evropi so vodile do sodelovanj, čemur je sledila selitev v Združene države, kjer je ustanovil Sergio Mendes & Brasil '65. Kljub nenehnemu uspehu v Južni Ameriki sta se prva dva albuma bossa nova skupine prodajala slabo v Severni Ameriki in po nasvetu producenta Richarda Adlerja je Mendes dodal dva ameriška pevca. Kljub temu je bil prelomni singel v portugalskem jeziku »Mas Que Nada«, ki ga je napisal legenda sambe Jorge Ben, tisti, ki je Mendesu in skupini – takrat imenovani Brasil ’66 – omogočil preboj v ZDA. V prej skeptični industriji sta "Mas Que Nada" in album Herb Alpert Presents: Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 zagotovila Mendesu možnost za vrhunec leta 1968, ko je izvedel priredbo Burta Bacharacha in Hala Davida "The Look of Love". S to pesmijo, nominirano za oskarja, je Mendes resnično postal mednarodno priljubljen, ko jo je aprila 1968 izvedel na podelitvi oskarjev. Leta 2019 je izdal svoj zadnji album, In the Key of Joy, v povezavi z dokumentarnim filmom o njegovem življenju. Mendes je nazadnje nastopil novembra 2023 v Parizu, Londonu in Barceloni.

According to data from Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research, there have been almost 85 000 fires in the Amazon so far this year, an increase of over 80 percent over the same time period last year. However, some argue that this year’s fire season is not particularly different from others. According to NASA, as of Aug 16, total fire activity across the Amazon basin was close to average over the past 15 years.

Joao wanted to come to Europe ever since he was a small boy. Eventually he did, and it was in Portugal that he fell in love with a Slovenian girl. Joao is originally from Sao Paolo in Brazil. He now lives in Murska Sobota! When Slovenians find out where he's from, they say… but why?!?! But Joao is happy where he is… he's with the person he loves, surrounded by wonderful people, and says he loves living in a place which has four seasons!
