Peter Kamien is a German who has been here long enough to know a thing or two about Slovenes. And although critical at times, he says he would never leave Slovenia. He met his Slovene wife while working in marketing, and then went on to be a writer, translator, and even an advisor in the presidential campaign! Peter also runs the biggest German travel blog about Slovenia, organizes the monthly Deutsches Sprachcafé Ljubljana events, and gives advice to Germans interested in moving to Slovenia. This week the programme looks at a Slovene company who mostly rely on foreign marketing companies to sell their products. This is common for international sales but Mesi Medical is particularly interesting as it is a highly motivated company selling very innovative solutions for measuring and monitoring patient’s blood pressure and many other parameters using a dedicated tablet to control and record the results. With its integrated software the company have achieved vastly improved results recorded in far less time than was previously possible. I speak to the CEO of the company as well as a nurse from the UK who has achieved a hitherto impossible patient turnover as a result.

Susie Dent is a lexicographer, that is she works with words. In English, German and French, now that is something special. Susie is also well known in the UK for her television appearances on Countdown as a wordsmith and general contributor to this very entertaining show. She was visiting Slovenia as a guest speaker at the recent Media Marketing conference SEMPL held in Portorož. It seemed a great opportunity to talk with someone from my homeland. She brings some great music to the show as well.
