Our second show of the new season was recorded in the town of LITIJA and its outskirts. We sent a lovely Bosnian-Serbian-Slovenian couple VANJA & OLIVER there to test a 1-day offer prepared by TIC Litija - Experience in the Heart of Slovenia. Tune in to hear more from them, as well as, from the providers (Pr' Škundr Farm, ECO farm Vovše, Geoss Adventure park, Sitarjevec mine). In order to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse themselves in the magical world of the countryside, they ended up tasting an authentic Slovenian experience, by exploring the areas just outside Ljubljana, rich in history, beautiful nature, and friendly people.
A Japan Day event will be held in Ljubljana on the 24th of June. It's organized by the Embassy of Japan in Slovenia, and among other things it will also feature Japanese culinary, music, tea ceremonies, ikebana exhibitions and the presentation of martial arts. Before that, on Wednseday, there will also be a lecture and concert by Natsuko Kojima, who plays the koto instrument.
Jane Coyle is an award-winning writer, arts journalist and critic, who has worked across print and broadcast media platforms in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Jane has written three feature-length screenplays and five stage plays and is co-librettist for the opera adaptation of her play The Suitcase. The suitcase became her inspiration for the Farm Girl monologue which tells the story of a girl growing up during WW2 and the horrors of the concentration camps. A monologue which she has performed around much of Europe and Great Britain. This performance was made here in Ljubliana and was arranged by the British Embassy.
Meet Juned Kemer, a Pakistani Slovenian better known as Johnny! He was born and raised in Pakistan, but now lives and works in Ljubljana. Last year he received his Slovenian citizenship, is fluent in Slovene, and keeps a Slovenian flag in his home. He's happy to live in a country which is peaceful, clean, unpolluted, and says everyone arriving to a new country should respect the local culture and laws. The 6th edition of the Afriška Vas Festival or African Village Festival takes place in Ljubljana between the 10th and 12th of June. In addition to French literature, Flora also studies English literature and culture. It’s therefore no wonder why her friends and family were surprised that she chose to spend her Erasmus exchange in Slovenia instead of England. However, she adds they quickly changed their minds when she started sending home photos of Ljubljana and Slovenia. You may know her;) Mariah is a popular vlogger originally from California now living in Ljubljana! Mariah came to Slovenia in 2011, after getting married to a guy called Luka Dolenc. She says Slovenians are really communicative, open and honest when expressing themselves. Mariah loves štruklji and says Ljubljana is most beautiful in the summer. She has nothing against the winter, but says it lasts too long and that it sometimes feels like its cold from October to June.
