Finally, the day has come when Fani gave up before Dave did… Dave really enjoyed CYCLING - KOLESARJENJE around the Goričko region. With his HELMET - ČELADA and BICYCLE – KOLO he made some kilometers. And Fani, SHE QUIT – JE ODNEHALA. She called her GRANDPA - DEDEK and left Dave to enjoy Goričko.
Dave isn't exactly a top class athlete... but at least he meant well and did try to practise his Slovene along the way. He did learn a few new words though. KOLESARSKA STEZA - CYCLING LANE, PAUZA - BREAK, KOLESARSKI IZLET- CYCLING TRIP, GUME - TIRES, and to PUMP/FILL the tires is NAPUMPATI/NAFILATI gume. VERIGA is a CHAIN... but Dave and Fani won't be visiting a chain of towns named after the days of the week any time soon... at least not this weekend anyway. They'll be lucky to make it to the next village... for a rogljiček or some pogača :)

Katherine from Hong Kong living in Slovenia and her new Slovenian friend Alja were sent on a 1-day trip to the northern SOLČAVSKO and LOGARSKA DOLINA valley. They shared their experience with an offer coordinated by the Center Rinka in Solčava - from enjoying an authentic morning at a high-altitude mountain farm, learning about the local heritage and its people, e-cycling an idylic panoramic road to a hands-on experience with felted wool from the local sheep.

In this new series I look at why companies operate from Slovenia. This first programme starts with something quite small. Simply Cycling Slovenia was set up over 10 years ago and is now expanding and gradually becoming a stable company. Clearly these things take time but there is much to learn from this small operation, both about the business and the country.
