Compulsory military service was officially reinstated in Croatia this week. On the first day 800 teenagers reported for duty at army baracks across the country. More than half of the first batch of recruits were volunteers, 10% of them women. They started two-months of basic military training on Monday, and will receive a monthly allowance of €1,100.
