Slovenian journalists are marking World Press Freedom Day today with growing concern over the state of the media industry. The Trade Union of Slovenian Journalists has issued a stark warning, citing ongoing layoffs, low wages, and poor management decisions as key issues threatening the profession. According to the union, newsroom staff numbers are steadily declining as job cuts continue, and the outlook is bleak. There’s also growing frustration with the government's lack of financial support for public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. Promised additional funding has been delayed, further fueling uncertainty.
