Voting was held there on the 29th of October to elect a new president as well as members of the National Assembly and local officials.
President Samia Suluhu Hasssan secured another term of office with 98% of the vote.
Hundreds of people are thought to have died in the unrest, after the two main opposition parties were prevented from taking part. Most of the deaths were reported in the capital Dar-es-Salaam and in the city of Mwanza.
Today, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, issued a statement calling on the authorities there to exercise restraint and release any detained politicians.
She said that the EU was very worried about the events that happened on Election Day, the resulting violence, internet shutdown and reports of irregularities in the election process in some places.
UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres has also expressed deep concern about the situation there, as have the UK, Norway and Canada, among others.
