The National Assembly ratified the UN High Seas Treaty. The document that Slovenia signed in 2023 aims to protect oceans and their biodiversity. Slovenian high officials welcomed the move.
The goal is to help protect 30% of the most important parts of oceans for biodiversity by 2030.
The treaty will only take effect once it is ratified by 60 of its 106 signatories, Greenpeace noted. Only 16 countries, including Slovenia, have ratified it so far.
