The bill, adopted to address Roma issues in southeast Slovenia, allows police to enter homes without warrants, use drones and surveillance, and link municipal and welfare funds to security projects in Roma villages.
PM Robert Golob said the law is not unconstitutional, as they had consulted with constitutional lawyers.
The Roma Foundation says such measures unfairly target the entire Roma community and equate Roma life with crime, despite being labelled as temporary and precautionary.
Several NGOs and civil groups have also condemned the Šutar bill on Roma issues in southeast Slovenia, calling its measures dangerous and possibly unconstitutional.
