Maribor has been declared Europe's best wine destination this year.
The European Best Destinations tourism platform has named Slovenia's second biggest city as Europe's Best Wine Capital in 2026.
A total of 31cities were shortlisted for the recognition. France's Bordeaux ranked second, while Portugal's Porto is ranked third.
Maribor was praised for its wine-growing tradition, high-quality wine, culinary and cultural events, and for being home to the oldest noble grapevine in the world.
