Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon stressed the need for a stable Middle East during her official visit to Jordan. She held talks with the Jordanian King Abdullah II today. Talks focused on the situation in Gaza. Minister Fajon called for the negotiations for a second and third phase of the ceasefire in Gaza to begin as soon as possible, calling for lasting peace.
Later today, Fajon also held talks with the Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and also visited a refugee centre near the capital of Jordan, Amman.
As part of her Middle East tour, Fajon will visit Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Syria on Thursday.
