At the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV led his first Easter Sunday celebration as pope. He called on those with weapons to lay them down and those in power to choose peace through dialogue, not with the desire to dominate others but to encounter them.

Echoing those sentiments, the Archibishop of Ljubljana, Stanislav Zore, warned that there were more conflicts than olive branches in the world but called on people not to lose hope in difficult times.
