The deal only partially meets the workers’ demands, and dispatchers warn they will resume strike action if the remaining demands are not fulfilled by the end of 2027. Marjan Lah, president of the Defence Ministry trade union, said the agreement with Defence Minister Borut Sajovic is a compromise, but includes two key safeguards that move the demands forward. Negotiations on a new collective agreement for defence, protection and rescue workers are expected to begin next week. Lah added that emergency notification centres will strike again if all demands are not met by January 1st, 2028, when the public-sector wage reform comes into force.
